The Home Stretch

As we head into the final week of the year, I’m sitting in the new Brick House Digital studio alone on a Monday morning. Almost everyone else is off from work today, but there’s so much to do to get ready for our grand opening seven days from today, that I can’t take a pause right now. Usually, this building is loud with the sounds of music in the air, but it’s calm right now, so that makes the perfect environment to get some writing done.

We had a great Christmas weekend with family and friends, and we’re ready to move forward with this new venture. We have a new website project we’ve been hired to build, and it looks like some business cards and banners are going to be ordered in the next few days.  I’m going to take a large block of time to flesh out the remaining pages for the new 24 page comic book I’m putting together for Cancer Man & Gout Boy, which is a benefit book. After that, I have a 40 page revamp of my character Shanghai to fulfill for the Kickstarter audience who funded it.

Opening this studio is the realization of a life-long dream to work to be independent and work on the projects I love for my own clients. I’ve spent my professional lifetime working for other people, and have learned something from each place I’ve been, and that has helped to prepare me for this moment. All of the experiences I’ve had, both good and bad, and have gone into molding me to take this step. It also would not be possible without the help, support and love from my wife, Patricia, who has believed in me all along the way and been my biggest encourager and supporter.

We’ve put together a pretty amazing collection of tools to do this job. We have a network of wholesale suppliers who get us great pricing. I have a degree in web design and interactive media with a focus on eLearning. We have an amazing office in the middle of the biggest creative nexus in the Daytona Beach area. There has never been a better time for Brick House Digital to go from a virtual dream to a physical business. We’re looking forward to all that we can do for everyone over the coming years, and our goal is to build one of the best graphic and web advertising studios in the central Florida area.

Stop by our office at 1246 Ridgewood Avenue in Holly Hill and take a tour!
